MGF Reviews Tina Turner – Tina!

Tina Turner – Tina!
Capitol Records (9/30/08)
R&B / Pop

To complement Tina Turner’s long-awaited return to arenas across North America this fall, Capitol recently released Tina!, a new 18-track collection from the eight-time Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, featuring top hits, rare live recordings and two exclusive new tracks. Longtime Tina fans will love it and new fans will no doubt embrace it.

Long-time favorites, “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, “Better Be Good to Me”, “We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)”, “Proud Mary” (1993 version), “Nutbush City Limits”, a live version of “The Best” (recorded at Wembley Stadium) and more are included. With the two previously unreleased tracks, “It Would Be a Crime” and “I’m Ready”, Tina proves how much she is The Standard in pop and R&B today. If you love Tina Turner, pick up this album, and if you’re an aspiring fan wanting the perfect album to start off your Tina collection, this is a great way to familiarize yourself with her incredible career.

Machine Gun Funk - MACHINEGUNFUNK is equal parts irreverent and brash…passionate and unpretentious. The eclectic voices heard on MGF focus on music through skewed and slightly cracked glasses. Our opinions are loud and our biases are even louder.
